Gold Museum in Lima

Some photos of one of the most popular museums in Lima: the Gold Museum:

"Lambayeque Culture"

Naylamp, the creator god, came by sea to found the Lambayeque Culture (700 – 1400 AD)

"The Gold of Peru"

Tumi or ceremonial knife is a masterwork of Lambayeque Culture metalworking.

"Gold of Peru"

Masks were intended to protect the remains of deceased dignitaries and signal their status in their way to the afterlife

The main function of gold was to serve funeral and ceremonial purposes

Vessels boast three dimensional designs and perfect spherical shapes

The Incas said gold was Sun´s tears
